The Hopewell Valley Lacrosse (HVL) Code of Conduct (CoC) is designed to protect the integrity of every individual within our organization while holding us all to the standards set forth by our organization and USA Lacrosse. As such, it is required of every parent, player, and coach to read and sign the document. Failure to do so will disqualify an individual from participating in any HVL events with NO EXCEPTIONS (practices, games, tournaments, etc.)

The ultimate arbiter of violations of the CoC will be the HVL Board of Directors Disciplinary Committee, made up of the HVL Board President, Girls Director, and Boys Director. In the event of a possible violation, a member of the HVL Board or the Head Coach should be notified first. Given the subjective nature of potential violations, each case will be reviewed individually.  Potential disciplinary actions are laid out in the respective CoCs (Player, Parent, Coach). However, depending on the severity of each violation, the Disciplinary Committee may enforce alternative actions at its discretion.

As an HV Lacrosse Player:

  1. I will be on time to practice and games (30 minutes before start time), and if for some reason I cannot be on time I will communicate with the appropriate person. I will have my equipment on and be ready for practice at the practice start time.
  2. I will be respectful of the person and property of every other HV Lacrosse member.
  3. I will respect the game and its officials and will not complain about or argue with an official’s calls or decisions made during a game.
  4. I will not tolerate or participate in bullying or hazing of any form. I understand that if I engage in an act of bullying, I will first be warned and my parents will be notified. If the warning is not heeded, I will be removed from the team without any refunds being issued.
  5. I will be coachable and respectful to our coaches.
  6. I understand that improvement comes through continual practice and I will work on my game outside of HV Lacrosse practices.
  7. I will be a good citizen in the community working to better the various areas in which I live. Because I am a representative of HV Lacrosse and my community, I understand that I will be expected to behave as the responsible individual that I am.
  8. I will support and encourage my teammates. I understand that lacrosse is a team game and will strive to be a “team player” who places team above personal glory.
  9. I will have fun, be passionate, learn from my coaches, and adhere to the spirit of the game both on and off the field.
  10. I will NOT engage in any activity that would bring any form of disrepute to the club or my family including the use of drugs or alcohol.
  11. I will be a good sport on and off the field and not participate in any conduct, including foul and abusive language and/or gestures, taunting, fighting, trash talking, boastful celebration, damage to property or belongings, or any other conduct that reflects poorly on myself or HV Lacrosse.

A violation of the CoC may result in the following depending on its level of seriousness

  • 1st offense, apology to all affected and suspended for one game.
  • 2nd offense, apology to all affected and suspended for the remainder of the season.
  • 3rd offense, apology to all affected and suspended indefinitely from playing/coaching for HVL.

If I feel I have a concern that was not addressed by the Coach, I understand that I should contact the Boys or Girls Director first and then the HV Lacrosse Board President.
